Ponying Girth Connecting Rein

$25.00

By ÁSTUND

Why we love it…

This simple piece of equipment is incredibly practical when it comes to the Icelandic tradition of ponying a horse off of a belt horse. When training in this manner you ride one horse and then pony an experienced hand horse off your ridden horse. On that experienced ponied horse is a special belt and this connecting rein is used to attach the third horse to that ponied horse. In this way you can exercise three horses at once! We use this when schooling young horses in ponying and leading as well as for efficient exercising of multiple horses. This connecting rein is also practical for multiple purposes with it’s short length and nifty snaps on both ends.

Consider this…

Ponying horses can be dangerous if you are not educated in this skill and must be taught systematically over time to all horses.
