Ponying Belt

$72.00

By HESTAGALLERY

Why we love it…

This is a traditional Icelandic piece of equipment and training method. You use this belt to attach a third horse to the outside of a horse that you are ponying. In this way you can exercise three horses simultaneously and many Icelanders use it as a way to school youngsters as you can attach an inexperienced horse to the outside of an experienced horse. This belt comes with the usual ring on the side, flexible nylon material for the belt, and leather for the girth straps and keepers. All in a natural brown color.

Consider this…

We use this belt in our training but it is not for use if you do not know how to properly prepare the horse for being ponied and being ponied off a belt horse. In addition ponying requires a lot of skill in that the rider must be coordinated, balanced, and skilled enough to direct multiple horses simultaneously. Finally when using it with youngsters it is of great importance that your belt horse is experience, confident, and comfortable with the potential antics of a youngster.
