Magic Bit - Sweet Iron

$55.00

By ÁSTUND

Why we love it…

This double broken magic bit features sweet iron with a copper middle piece and steel rings. We have found that many horses seem to really appreciate the sweet iron and copper over other forms of metal. Some believe that the sweet iron and copper increases salivation and therefore encourages the horse to chew the bit. This is one of the bits we rotate through for use in daily training of all levels of horses.

Sizes: 10cm, 10.5cm, 11cm and 11.5cm

Consider this…

We cannot stress enough that you need to be familiar with the inside of your horse’s mouth and develop a long term relationship with an equine veterinary dentist. Check your horse´s mouth daily after riding to insure that sores are not developing. Although sores are generally caused by rough riding, that is not always the case. Some horses may have extremely sensitive mouths or a tendency to bite their checks. These horses might even need to be ridden in alternative equipment (this is especially true if they have a history of sores and have developed scar tissue). Some horses need to be ridden only in certain types or sizes of bits. Very often here in the states we see people place bits that are way too long in their horses mouths. Some horses need their bit changed daily. We like to keep a variety of bits in rotation and monitor our horses closely. Your horse’s welfare should always be top priority. It is important to be aware of your individual horse’s needs when selecting bits.
