Ground Driving Reins

$85.00

By HESTAGALLERY

Why we love them…

These reins are designed for ground driving. Ground driving can become a very important aspect of training. Its most basic use is often introducing young horses to the contact but this style of training from the ground can develop into training all the gaits and even high level dressage maneuvers. You can set up the reins so that you ground drive the horse on a circle around you or you can follow behind the horse with the reins. These reins have a round shape where they travel through the lungeing surcingle to the horses mouth so that they can slide smoothly for more supple rein cues. The reins become flat and wide in the middle for the trainer to more easily grip. These reins come in one contiguous piece.

Consider this…

Ground driving is a special skill unto it’s own. Like any training method it can become detrimental to the horse’s wellbeing if applied incorrectly. Working with long lines can also be particular danger if the handler is not accustomed to organizing the reins or does not know the proper safety protocol.
