Full Check Snaffle

$80.00

By ÁSTUND

Why we love it…

This double broken full check bit is made out of cuprium metal with steel rings and bars. This bit is our top choice for young horses, horses with prior mouth sore issues, and horses that we ride without a noseband. For the youngsters this bit helps guide them when bending by putting pressure on the side of their face to help give them more clear indications of what we are asking. For horses with prior bit issues this bit is sure to prevent any pinching of the checks due to it’s structure. Since the full check prevents the bit from ever sliding through the horses mouth this bit is ideal for safely riding without a noseband. We have some horses that preform better when riding without a noseband and this is our bit of choice for those horses. The full check stabilizes the bit and can create an overall positive experience for the horse.

Sizes: 10.5cm and 11cm

Consider this…

We cannot stress enough that you need to be familiar with the inside of your horse’s mouth and develop a long term relationship with an equine veterinary dentist. Check your horse´s mouth daily after riding to insure that sores are not developing. Although sores are generally caused by rough riding, that is not always the case. Some horses may have extremely sensitive mouths or a tendency to bite their checks. These horses might even need to be ridden in alternative equipment (this is especially true if they have a history of sores and have developed scar tissue). Some horses need to be ridden only in certain types or sizes of bits. Very often here in the states we see people place bits that are way too long in their horses mouths. Some horses need their bit changed daily. We like to keep a variety of bits in rotation and monitor our horses closely. Your horse’s welfare should always be top priority. It is important to be aware of your individual horse’s needs when selecting bits.
