English Noseband with Flash

$80.00

By ÁSTUND

Why we love it…

This noseband is made with fine craftsmanship out of quality soft leather, as is typical of all Ástund products. The noseband is padded for a more supple fit against the horse’s face.

English nosebands or cavessons are not used as often in Icelandic horsemanship as the drop noseband. However, this type of noseband is necessary with the use of certain bits and some horses are happier in this style of noseband. This English noseband comes with a flash which is appropriate to use only with specific bits.

Here at Taktur we use the english noseband most often in conjunction with the Icelandic Pearl Stangir. A flash is never permitted when using a bit with leverage, so when we use this noseband with a stangir we remove the flash entirely. An English noseband is also important whenever you are training with bits, such as a full check snaffle, that do not operate correctly with a drop noseband.

Consider this…

With all nosebands proper tightness and position is key to successful use of the equipment. English nosebands should be placed two fingers from the check bone and you should be able to fit two fingers in between the bridge of the horse´s nose and the noseband. The English noseband goes under the bridle on the sides of the horse´s face. The choice between the use of a drop noseband vs. an english noseband (with or without a flash) should be carefully educated by the type of bit in use and the horses individual needs.
