Biothane Buckle Reins

Why we love it…

This innovative design was created by Eques in collaboration with Nils Christian Larsen. The first thing you will notice is that these reins have a buckle as opposed to snaps. Snaps have been an Icelandic tradition for many years. The issue with snaps is that your contact goes through a metal on metal connection (snap to bit) which many dressage trainers believe creates a more jerky contact. Over a year ago, at Taktur we started experimenting with reins, that connect to the bit with buckles. We have found that some horses seem to really appreciate the type of smooth contact that can be created with this type of rein. In addition, these reins are made with biothane rubber, which makes them easy to grip but supple in your hands. The combination of the biothane rubber with the buckles is a unique option that facilitates a soft contact for the horse and rider. These reins are an integral piece of equipment in our training.

These reins come in two types as follows:

With stoppers, light weight

Without stoppers, heavier weight, and leather ends 240cm or 260cm

Consider this…

For Horses that really lean we have found that reins with snaps help facilitate a lighter/more playful contact.
