Hárekur von der Igelsburg

From our first sessions with Hárekur, this five-gaited stallion has displayed extremely natural abilities in his gaits. With systematic training and conditioning, he has only shown increasing promise. His high set neck and well-raised withers promote innate flow and balance. An example of excellent breeding, Hárekur is a horse we look forward to molding and shaping from a naturally talented young stallion to a high quality show horse.

Hárekur has been willing and spirited in his work and actions since day one. His exuberant and bright nature make him a true show stopper.

His owner, Lori Cretney guided him through his debut in the USIHC Virtual Show. It was a promising start to their show career together, with a 5.87 overall in Green Horse Tölt and a 5.57 overall in Green Horse Four-Gait. Some of his highest awarded individual marks were particularly exciting, with up to a 7 in tölt, a high of 6.5 in walk and a 6.0 in canter!

This young stallion is backed by some extremely impressive bloodlines. His sire, Gear von der Igelsburg is first prize (8.58 overall). True to the Ófeigur lines that run through him, he received an impressive 9 for pace. Other highlights include a 9.5 for walk, and an 8.5 for tölt, trot and gallop.

Gear goes back to honor prize stallion Álfasteinn frá Selfossi. He also received first prize in his evaluations (8.54 overall) with 8.5 in all gaits, and 9 for spirit and general impression. Álfasteinn is the son of the celebrated honor prize mare Álfadís frá Selfossi (8.31 overall). This incredible mare earned 9 for tölt, trot, walk, general impression and spirit! Álfasteinn’s father is the impressive honor prize stallion Keilir frá Miðsitju, a direct son of honor prize stallion Ófeigur frá Flugumýri.

If you’re a fan of Ófeigur, Hárekur has plenty of this line running through him. Ófeigur shows up three times in his extended pedigree tree.

Hárekur’s dam, Hremming frá Skeiðvöllum is also a first prized mare. Her pace score during evaluations was an impressive 9.5!

As you can see, high quality pace is well represented in Hárekur’s bloodlines. Between his naturally displayed abilities and the pedigree that supports him, it will be exciting to see what Hárekur’s offspring can accomplish!
