Curious about Icelandic horses but not sure where to start? Join Mackenzie Durbin, our resident instructor and local trainer, for this Two-Day Icelandic Horse Weekend- the perfect introduction to one of the world’s most pure and versatile breeds. Designed specifically for riders new to Icelandic horses, this immersive weekend blends hands-on riding instruction with education, community and inspiration.
Participants will enjoy four thoughtfully structured riding lessons focused on building confidence, understanding the Icelandic horse’s unique gait separation, and developing correct aids from the very beginning. Off the horse, we’ll gather for a relaxed lunch & lecture, exploring the traditions, training philosophy, and purpose that shape the breed in its homeland.
To complete the experience, you’ll deepen your understanding through a demonstration of the Icelandic horse gaits which brings it all together, showing correct training in action and helping you connect the dots between theory and practice.
Whether you’re new to the breed or simply looking to build a strong foundation, this clinic offers a welcoming, educational, and inspiring introduction to the Icelandic horse—both in and out of the saddle.
